Walking is an excellent natural way to help you stay healthy and gain pleasure from your surroundings.
Our guided moderate walks are between 8 and 14kms in distance (5 - 8 miles), comfortable walking on uneven ground with a mix of terrain and some climbing although not too daunting, they still provide the enthusiastic walker with a challenge.
Not everyone wants a really tough day out so our moderate walks provide an ideal opportunity for people to enjoy walking at an achievable level.
The moderate walks are based on 2.5 - 3 kms per hour + a lunch stop, so should take approx 5 hrs.
The Set Guided Walks:
1. Rugged Ridges. 12.8kms (7.9 miles) in distance & 829m (2719 ft) of ascent. This walk takes us onto the quieter more rugged side of the Beacons, we will see the aeroplane remains of the Canadian Wellington bomber and also Carn Pica (a magnificent shaped cairn) where there are great views (weather permitting) out to the Black Mountains, and the Talybont reservoir.
2. Waterfalls & The Gap. 13.2kms (8.2 miles) in distance & 554m (1817 ft) of ascent. This walk has stunning views of the Central Beacons area with a climb up to the Fan y Big's diving board and across the ridge returning past some lovely waterfalls.
Another option rather than go on a set guided walk is to decide the route on the day, where everyone can have a go at map reading and learn some basic navigational techniques.
